SULBARAN Andres

The young Venezuelan tenor Andres Sulbaran began his musical education at the renowned El Sistema Academy. He performed as a soloist with the Coro Sinfónico de Occidente and the Coral Nacional Juvenil Simón Bolívar. In concert, he notably performed the tenor part in Handel's *Messiah*.

He made his opera debut in *La mujer de espaldas* by Federico Ruiz at the Teatro Teresa Carreño and participated in *La Bohème* at La Scala in Milan under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel. In Caracas, he has sung roles such as Gherardo (Gianni Schicchi), Nemorino (L'Elisir d'amore), and Altoum (Turandot).

Between 2016 and 2018, he joined the Plácido Domingo Advanced Training Center at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, where he received guidance from renowned artists such as Plácido Domingo, Mariella Devia, Jaume Aragall, and Sonia Prina. He participated in several productions at the theater, performing characters like Peter Quint (*The Turn of the Screw*), Vitellozo (*Lucrezia Borgia*), Tebaldo (*I Vespri Siciliani*), and Bastien (*Bastien und Bastienne*).

He then joined the Opera Studio of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons. His repertoire there included Tamino (*Die Zauberflöte für Kinder*), the Prince (*Die Schneekönigin*), the Count of Lerme (*Don Carlo*), Chaplitsky (*La Dame de Pique*), Sir Bruno Roberton (*I Puritani*), the Fourth Jew (*Salome*), and Tempo (*Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno*).

In September 2019, he won the First Prize at the International Toulouse Competition.

Among his upcoming projects with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, he will perform the roles of Oronte (*Alcina*), Beppe (*Pagliacci*), Arturo (*Lucia di Lammermoor*), Tybalt (*Romeo und Julia*), and Nemorino.
