Hagar Sharvit, a mezzo-soprano originally from Israel, has carved out a dynamic and impressive career across Europe, the United States, and beyond. Her musical journey began with training in Tel Aviv, Berlin, and New York, followed by her entry into the prestigious Placido Domingo Center for Young Artists at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia in 2011. This marked the beginning of her European debut in *Amelia al Ballo* by Menotti, conducted by Placido Domingo, which set the stage for a series of significant performances.
Sharvit’s early career saw her performing a range of roles, including Cherubino in *Le Nozze di Figaro*, a Sorceress in *Dido and Aeneas*, and covering the role of Dryade in *Ariadne auf Naxos* at notable venues. She furthered her experience with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein’s Opera Studio, where she performed roles such as Annina (*La Traviata*), Sandmännchen (*Hänsel und Gretel*), and Grimgerde (*Der Ring an einem Abend*). Her performance as Smeaton in *Anna Bolena* alongside Edita Gruberova and at the Musikverein in Vienna was also a significant highlight.
Sharvit’s vocal versatility has led her to many prestigious operatic productions. She has performed across Europe, in roles such as Angelina (*La Cenerentola*) and Nerone (*Agrippina*) at the Theater of Oldenburg, and she made a memorable debut as Irene (*Theodora*) in concert at the Victoria Hall in Geneva. Additionally, her portrayal of Zerlina (*Don Giovanni*) at the Bregenz Festival and her U.S. debut as Zenobia (*Radamisto*) at the Kennedy Center in Washington have only added to her growing reputation.
In recent years, Sharvit has continued to expand her repertoire with roles like Ismene (*Armida* by Salieri) at the Theater an der Wien, as well as performances in *Der Zwerg* at the Enescu Festival and *Die Zauberflöte* at the Israeli Opera. She also sang the role of Albine (*Thaïs*) at the Opéra de Tours and Hermia (*A Midsummer Night's Dream*) at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa.
Looking ahead, Sharvit’s upcoming engagements are sure to further establish her as one of the most versatile mezzo-sopranos of her generation. She will star in *Rusalka* at the Opéra de Marseille (January–February 2025), followed by *Die Liebe der Danae* by Richard Strauss at the Opéra de Gênes (March–April 2025). She will also perform with the Nederlandse Reisopera, starting in April 2025, and participate in a series of concerts featuring Mahler's *Kindertotenlieder* in April 2025.
