LE VAN Solène
French-born, French-American soprano Solène Le Van is a rising young artist recognized for her luminous, silver-toned voice and compelling stage presence. An accomplished violinist as well as a soprano, she brings distinctive musical depth and refinement to her performances. She has appeared at the Musikverein Wien, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the New National Theatre Tokyo, the Markgräfliches Opernhaus, and Carnegie Hall.
Critics have praised her singing as “radiant sunshine” (L’Alsace), noting her “crystal-clear high notes and undeniable charisma” (Wiesbadener Kurier).
She is particularly associated with French and Italian lyric heroines including Marie (La fille du régiment), Musetta (La bohème), Micaëla (Carmen), and Juliette (Roméo et Juliette), and appears regularly in Viennese operetta and German repertoire such as Adele (Die Fledermaus) and Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel). This season she makes her role debut as Violetta (La traviata).
In concert, her repertoire includes Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Mahler’s Symphonies Nos. 2 and 8, and the Requiems of Mozart and Fauré. She graduated with First Class Honors from the Royal College of Music in London and also studied at Princeton University and the Jacobs School of Music.
