"Another remarkable Russian voice, baritone Aleksei Isaev made a strong impression as Count di Luna: his deep timbre, vocal consistency across registers, and dark hues supported by vigorous phrasing all contributed to a powerful portrayal of this relentless character — particularly in his aria ‘Il balen del suo sorriso’, which was deservedly acclaimed." (Opera Online)
"The Russian bass-baritone Aleksei Isaev delivers a deeply moving, even heartbreaking, Ondin, which won the public's favor. Swimming or crawling on the ground, his emphasis never breaks the vocal line of the Romantic school." (Première Loge)
"Another great ovation goes to Aleksei Isaev's Vodnik, making his debut in Toulouse. First, let's praise his ability to constantly be in or under the water! Above all, he brings a much-needed warmth: his Běda! Běda! in Act II is stunning, a heartfelt cry filled with all the love a father can feel for a daughter he sees losing herself." (Forumopera)
"Dedicated to the Russian baritone Aleksei Isaev, who had already stunned us during his first appearance at the Capitole in the role of Vodnik (*Rusalka* – October 2022), this concert, unlike most previous ones, was composed of opera arias. What we discover today is the rare voice of a true dramatic baritone, a range flirting with that of a bass-baritone, even a bass-baritone. The projection is impressive across all registers, all perfectly unified; the low notes sound commanding, and the high notes retain the autumnal harmonics of this baritone-like color. This last point is the infallible sign of a perfectly placed voice. His Vodnik made us suspect it. Now there is no doubt. This young man in his thirties, celebrating his 35th birthday on stage during this concert, will very soon become an Amonasro, a Nabucco, and perhaps, to begin with Wagner, a Dutchman—and why not his companion in color and range: Telramund."
