Praised for the beauty of his tone, musicality, and acting skills, Leonardo Caimi has graced the stages of some of the world’s most prestigious opera houses, including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro Real in Madrid, the Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Salzburg Festival.
Highlights of his rich career include Don Carlo (Don Carlo) and Don José (Carmen) at the Deutsche Oper Berlin; Calaf (Turandot) and Don José at the Leipzig Opera over four seasons; Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Ruggero (La Rondine), and Rodolfo (La Bohème) at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago; Pinkerton in Seoul and at La Monnaie in Brussels, where he also performed Turiddu (Cavalleria Rusticana); Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur) at the Teatro Colón; Roberto (Le Villi) for Spanish National Radio and Television at the Teatro Monumental in Madrid; Don José at Teatro Real; Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra) at Teatro San Carlo in Naples; Calaf and Werther at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw over multiple seasons; Riccardo (Un Ballo in maschera) in Rio de Janeiro and Darmstadt; Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca) in Santiago de Chile and Frankfurt; Rodolfo and Roberto at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino; Des Grieux (Manon), Radamès (Aida), Don José, and Manrico (Il Trovatore) in Tel Aviv. He has also performed Don José at Covent Garden, Henri (Les Vêpres siciliennes) in Frankfurt, Bonn, and Palermo.
Most recently, he has sung Don Carlo in Bonn, Pinkerton in Cardiff, Calaf in Cologne, Don José in Prague, Michele (La Ciociara by Marco Tutino) at the Wexford Festival, and Rodolfo at Covent Garden.
Upcoming engagements include Luigi (Il Tabarro) at Welsh National Opera, Don José at Teatro Colón, Manrico at the Braunschweig Summer Festival, and, most notably, Hoffmann (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) at Covent Garden.
