BELOBO Jacques-Greg

After studying voice at the Conservatory of Nice and then at the CNSM of Paris, Jacques-Greg Belobo became a member of the Semperoper Dresden ensemble from 2003 to 2011.

A regular guest at opera houses, he has worked with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, James Levine, Myung-Whun Chung, and Fabio Luisi. His roles include: Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro), Banco (Macbeth), Escamillo (Carmen), Biterolf (Tannhäuser), and Don Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) at the Semperoper, Angelotti (Tosca) in Nice, and Escamillo at the Volksoper in Vienna.

In January 2015, he sang the roles of the King/The Chancellor (Cinq-Mars) by Gounod at the Theater an der Wien and at the Royal Opera of Versailles, where he also performed in May in Uthal by Méhul. Two months later, he sang in a concert alongside Inva Mula in a Bizet program at the Philharmonie de Paris, conducted by Jean-Claude Casadesus.

In July 2018, he took part in a major concert at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, organized by FIFA for the World Cup, where he performed the “Golden Calf” aria from Gounod’s Faust.

He also performed the role of Nourabad (Les Pêcheurs de perles) at the Toulon Opera in December 2019.

More recently, he portrayed Don Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) at the Opéra de Montpellier, the Monk (Don Carlo) at the Opéra de Marseille, and Ramfis (Aida) in Montpellier.

Among his upcoming projects is the role of the Old Hebrew (Samson et Dalila) at the Opéra d'Avignon.
