GOMEZ Begoña

Spanish mezzo-soprano Begoña Gómez is distinguished by the richness of her timbre and the maturity of her interpretation on opera stages across Spain and Europe.
She trained at the Universität der Künste Berlin, where she completed a Master’s degree in Opera (2021–2023). She previously earned a Master’s degree in Spanish Music at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid (2020–2021), as well as a Bachelor of Music in Voice at the ESCM (2016–2020).
Her stage experience spans a wide operatic and oratorio repertoire. She has performed Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Rossini) at the Teatre Principal d’Inca; Stéphano (Roméo et Juliette, Gounod) at the Teatre Principal de Palma; Flora (La Traviata, Verdi); Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas, Purcell); Marcellina (Le Nozze di Figaro, Mozart) at the Universität der Künste Berlin; and Sistra (The Fiery Angel, Prokofiev) at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
She has also appeared as Candelas (El amor brujo, Manuel de Falla) at the Auditorio Nacional; Fidela (La Malquerida, Penella) at the Teatros del Canal; Miss Baggot (The Little Sweep, Britten); the Second Lady (Die Zauberflöte, Mozart); and Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi, Puccini). She has been heard in major concert works such as the Stabat Mater (Haydn and Rossini) and Mozart’s Requiem at the Cathedral of Mallorca with the Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears.
A laureate of several awards, Begoña Gómez won the Best Opera Singer Prize at the 2025 International Singing Competition Ciudad de Logroño, as well as the Richard-Wagner-Verband Berlin-Brandenburg Prize (2023). She also received the Best Contemporary Song Award (H. Nafilyan) at the Georges Enesco International Competition in Paris and was a finalist in the XI Certamen Internacional de Zarzuela de Valleseco.
She took part in Crescendo III – Young Artist Program of the Teatro Real, and has had the opportunity to work with conductors such as Jordi Bernàcer, Manuel Coves, Errico Fresis, Franck Villard, Carlos Aragón, Andrés Salado and Pablo Mielgo.
Artistically, she has benefited from the teaching and mentorship of Albert Pesendorfer, Sebastian Störmer, Helen Collyer, David Menéndez, Rubén Fernández-Aguirre and Deborah Polaski. She has also collaborated with stage directors including Jorinde Keesmaat, Frank Hilbrich, Isabel Hindersin, Mario Gas, Céline Gaudier, Hugo de Ana and Emilio Sagi.
Her upcoming engagements include a Beethoven Symphony concert with the OSIB (Mallorca); La corte del faraón (role of the Viuda) at the Teatre Principal de Palma; El gitano por amor by Manuel García (role of Laura) at the Teatro de la Zarzuela (Madrid); and Rigoletto (role of Maddalena) at the Teatre Principal de Palma.
A versatile and accomplished artist, Begoña Gómez is pursuing a promising career, combining a deep commitment to dramatic music with a strong affinity for the stylistic diversity of both operatic and symphonic repertoire.
